Not my headline, but a lesson to be learnt to be careful of your profile on Facebook - in this case the image was actually on the profile of a friend. The story has also been run in the Leinster Leader the FG candidate, Emma Kiernan, is running for election to the County Council in Newbridge, County Kildare.
Measurementcamp Dublin was great, plans are for it to be run quite regularly a great way to meet new people and have topical conversations about online engagement. Plenty of people from the PR industry there.
Started with a presentation of some resources for measuring online presence which was followed by a brainstorming session where we split into groups to discuss a case study and presented each of our findings to the other participants. Some great ideas came out, interesting to see the directions taken by each group.
A particular source of entertainment was the use of a twitterstream projected behind us picking up tweets from the participants at the event, a good source of entertainment and amusement over the morning.
Well done to the organisers, I’m looking forward to the next one.

TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: For every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what we’re all about.
In 2006 an American traveler, Blake Mycoskie, befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created a company that would match every pair of shoes sold with a pair given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by caring TOMS customers.
Since our beginning, TOMS has given over 140,000* pairs of shoes to children in need through the One for One model. Because of your support, TOMS plans to give over 300,000 pairs of shoes to children in need around the world in 2009.
I was speaking about this company in lectures this evening and how, for them, the corporate social responsibility is central to their very reason for being as a company.
